I've never seen cranes made this way, how did you do it?

:iconwhite-knuckle-pencil:
Basically, I made a typical paper crane, then sorta corrugated the wings, and folded the neck inwards at one part.
Might make a tutorial or something one day :)

I love paper cranes. They have such an uplifting meaning. And the colours look very dashing on this particular crane ^.^

:iconwhite-knuckle-pencil:
:) Yeah I've known how to make them for a while but this is the nicest one I have! Took a while with all that coloured pencil :3

I bet! Did you colour it before or after? Because before i feel like it would be hard to visualize where it would end up being but after i feel like it would be really delicate to manage and all. @.@
Reply
:iconwhite-knuckle-pencil:
After ^^ As you can probably tell, not all of it is coloured-cos that'd just be too darn hard what with all the nooks and crannys I'd have to fit the pencil in, but luckily the paper was pretty hardy so it survived ok :)

Haha yeah that makes sense. I am glad the paper survived ^.^ It would have been a tragedy if this were lost to the horrors of colouring smooshedness!

Yuppers :P Even still, the wings seem slightly more weighted down just by the pencil already on there :O

Colour is a heavy burden to bear. >.< But I could not tell from looking at it. The crane carries the weight with a wonderful grace ^.^

:P It may be a burden. but a burden worth carrying, no? :D

I REALLY like how the wings are outstretched, like a swan drifting down to land in a lake... :D

Thanks! Yeah I had a photo of a goose in that pose somewhere actually, that's probably what inspired me to make mine like this :D

It is! Until you have to flip back two months to find out how to fold a freakin' "lunar bowl" or whatever. :D It is! But I don't do it too often, I prefer drawing ON origami. :D

My friend Que, he's like the ORIGAMI MASTER. He's incredibly amazing with his ninja origami skillz. I'll try to post a jack in the box he made... It's so cool!

But I think you'd be some considerable competition for him. ;)

:iconwhite-knuckle-pencil:
:D Yeah I guess most people can fold the paper, it's more about what KIND of paper and what you do with it/draw on it that makes it interesting.

:O A jack in the box? From paper? I'm intrigued!

Oh, and thanks :) By the way-loving your pen drawings, your details are stunning O_O

Reply
:iconwhite-knuckle-pencil:
Cheers! It was pretty much just concertina folding on the wings, only I made the folds narrower nearer the wing joint :)

Extremely gorgeous; I adore those vibrantly coloured wings, the way you've pleated the paper to make it more realistic...lovely lovely.
